Absences

  • Sophie: “Every time I even think about stepping back outside, I feel that same fear I felt when I heard that first gunshot.”

  • Scott: “I’m alive and well and if there’s anything these last few weeks have taught me, it’s that people take that for granted every day.”
  • Dex: “There’s something wrong with me. And it’s not Scott’s job to take care of me, it shouldn’t have to be.”
  • Greg: “Those who seek forgiveness will receive it if they want it bad enough.”
  • Sophie: “I can’t walk outside without thinking someone is just waiting to shoot me in the head or stab me or rape me or God knows what else!”
  • Keith: “I might have done a lot of stupid, horrible crap. But walking away means I’m okay with what I did. It means I’m too much of a coward to fix my mistakes.”
